by Catherine Ann Romualdo Uson
Project Overview
This project examines the relationship between employee engagement and employee retention at Tash Waterways Shipping LLC, a ship management company based in the United Arab Emirates. The study focuses on understanding how engagement-related factors influence employees’ motivation, commitment, and decision to remain with the organization.
The research explores key employee engagement factors including leadership effectiveness, training and development, rewards and recognition, work-life balance, and organizational culture, and evaluates their impact on employee retention. The study highlights the importance of maintaining a motivated and satisfied workforce, especially in the shipping and maritime industry, where employee skills, operational efficiency, and workforce stability are critical.
A quantitative research approach was adopted, with data collected through structured questionnaires from 100 employees of Tash Waterways Shipping LLC. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS, applying descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis to determine the relationship between employee engagement factors and retention.
The findings indicate that employee engagement has a significant positive impact on employee retention. Among the factors studied, work-life balance showed the strongest influence, followed by leadership effectiveness and organizational culture. The study also found that training opportunities and reward systems contribute to higher employee satisfaction, motivation, and loyalty.
The project concludes that effective employee engagement strategies can help organizations reduce turnover, improve employee satisfaction, and enhance overall performance. It recommends strengthening leadership practices, improving career development opportunities, implementing recognition programs, promoting a positive workplace culture, and supporting better work-life balance to build a more committed workforce.
